What Prism users usually want back
Prism put every bill in one place and showed what was due next. When it shut down, people moved to budgeting apps, their bank's own reminders, a calendar, or a spreadsheet. The same things come up again and again in what they say they miss:
- One list of every bill, not a full budgeting app with charts they don't use.
- A reminder a few days before each bill is due.
- A quick way to see how much is still left to pay this month.
- No need to hand over a bank login.
How Loulen covers that
Loulen is a bill tracker and nothing else. You add each bill once (rent, the electric bill, Netflix, the car loan) with its amount and due day. Loulen reminds you before it's due, and when you've paid, you tap the check and it moves to done. The top of Home shows what's left to pay this month, and the Bills tab has a calendar of the whole month.
Loulen never asks for your bank login and never moves money. You pay each bill the way you already do, on the biller's site or through autopay, then mark it paid in Loulen. For bills on autopay, turn on Autopay and Loulen marks them paid on their due day.
Where Loulen is different from Prism
| Topic | Loulen |
|---|---|
| Paying bills | Loulen doesn't pay bills. Each bill can hold a link to the biller's payment page, so paying is one tap away. |
| Bank or biller logins | None. Loulen never asks for your bank login or connects to your accounts. |
| Getting bills in | Type them in, snap a photo of a bill, forward a bill email to your Loulen inbox, or import a spreadsheet. |
| Sharing | A household of up to 5 people sees the same bills and who paid what (Premium). |
| Where it runs | iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, widgets, Android and the web at app.getloulen.com. |
Moving your bills over
Prism's data is gone, so start from whatever you kept: a spreadsheet, last month's bank statement or your email. Loulen has a spreadsheet template you can fill in and import from the Account tab, or you can add bills one at a time.
What it costs
The free plan tracks up to 5 bills with reminders, the Apple Watch app, widgets and the calendar. Premium is $29.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the annual plan, or $4.99 a month. It adds unlimited bills, a shared household, Bill Vault for statements, CSV export and calendar sync.
If Loulen isn't the right fit
If you want an app that pays your bills for you, or a full budget that tracks every purchase, Loulen isn't that and doesn't try to be. It's for people who want to know what's due, get reminded, and see the month get lighter as they pay. Questions? Email [email protected] and you'll hear back from Paul, who builds it.
